Prof. Dr. Hab. n. med. Rafał Kurzawa, obstetrician-gynecologist, specialist in gynecological endocrinology and reproduction, senior clinical embryologist ESHRE
President of the Polish Society of Reproductive Medicine and Embryology, long-time Chairman of the Fertility and Infertility Section of the Polish Society of Gynecologists and Obstetricians, Chairman of the West Pomeranian Branch of the Polish Society of Gynecologists and Obstetricians, member of the Society of Reproductive Biology, the European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology (ESHRE) and the American Society for Reproductive Medicine (ASRM). As part of disseminating knowledge to the public, he is actively involved in educational and scientific projects established to promote fertility prevention and infertility treatment. Since 2018, Partner in one of the largest groups associating infertility treatment clinics in Europe - The Fertility Partnership (TFP).
In 1992 he graduated with distinction from the Faculty of Medicine of the Pomeranian Medical University. Since that year he has been employed as an assistant at the Pomeranian Medical University. In 1995 he defended his doctoral dissertation in the field of embryology and reproductive medicine, obtaining the title of doctor of medical sciences. In 1996 he obtained the first degree, and in 1999 the second degree (exam passed with distinction) of specialization in gynecology and obstetrics. infertility treatment
(including infertility endocrinology and assisted reproductive technology) and gynecological surgery. He is a multiple scholarship holder of the University of Antwerp and the Free University of Brussels, the leading European centers for the treatment of infertility.
He co-founded the Assisted Reproduction Laboratory at the Gynecology and Reproduction Clinic of the Independent Public Clinical Hospital No. 1 PUM in Police, for which he received the award of the Rector of the Pomeranian Medical University in 1998. He is currently the Head of the Department and Institute of Gynecology and Reproductive Health at the Faculty of Health Sciences of the Pomeranian Medical University in Szczecin and is associated with the Department of Gynecology, Obstetrics and Gynecological Oncology of the Karol Marcinkowski Medical University in Poznań. In addition to clinical work, he conducts active scientific activities in the field of reproductive medicine.
He is the author of a number of scientific papers on the issue of infertility, often published in renowned medical journals. For his scientific activity, he has received several awards from the Rector of the Pomeranian Medical University. In 2002, he submitted his habilitation thesis entitled "Optimization of in vitro culture of mouse embryos with the role of selected growth factors taken into account", obtaining the title of habilitated doctor of medical sciences. In 2008, he obtained the most important European degree of specialization in clinical embryology (Senior Clinical Embryologist) certified by the European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology (ESHRE).
In 2009, he received a professorial nomination from the President of the Republic of Poland. In 2015, he obtained the title of specialist in gynecological endocrinology and reproduction. He successfully led the TFP Fertility Vitrolive clinic through the process of integration with the European agreement for fertility TFP. Thanks to his daily work with patients, he has helped thousands of couples realize their dreams of parenthood.
